Question: When should I start?
Answer: Its never too early to start financial planning. The non-financial planning, though, is best put into motion within 5-10 years of retirement. Its not advisable to wait until you retire. Decisions as to where you might live and what work you might want to take on, for example, might require planning and incubation. You may need to establish new relationships,
do some research and generally prepare your mind and emotions for the transition.
Question: How much does it cost?
Answer: There are a number of affordable
programs available. The process can be as brief or as long as you choose. Your MLP coach shouldnt have tenure. You may need them for a while and then take off just fine on your own returning every once in a while for situation-specific issues or "tune-ups".
Question: What if I dont live in the same town as you?
Answer: I do coaching work with clients in every time zone and in other countries.
Coaching work has traditionally been distance work by phone or teleclass.
Phone work means that you are
not limited to Non-financial
Planners within commuting
distance of your home. Coaching is a very intense and focused experience when there are no visual distractions. You can do it in your office or home or on vacation and at a time that works best for you even outside of normal business hours.
Question: Do I have to take the Retirement Success Profile?
Answer: No. But I do advocate it. It is a great foundation and actually very cost-effective and time-efficient. We will begin to work together with a tremendous shared body of knowledge about whats important to you, what youve done already, what still needs to be done, where youre apprehensive or hesitant. This means we can be up and working immediately instead of trying to discover these issues in conversation.
Question: What will Mature Life Planning help me to actually do?
Answer:
- Adjust to
shifts in relationships at home
and in your community.
- Make strong and sensible
decisions about your life after
retirement.
- Initiate change and manage it.
- Respond intelligently to
problems instead of reacting out
of emotion.
- Gain clarity about the life you want to create.
- Discover your true strengths and talents.
- Set goals and take actions to achieve them.
- Handle difficult situations with a new perspective.
- Understand and eliminate blocks that have kept you from reaching your full potential.
- Gain insight into your authentic self.
Question: What if I need more than an hour a week?
Answer: My programs are set up for maximum flexibility. We can work one hour a week or three hours a week. We can double up on sessions when there is time-sensitive work to be done. We can take a break for a week or two when things are going smoothly. I am available by e-mail in between sessions and by phone for brief calls in a situation which may need immediate feedback.
Question: Why do I need MLP? Can I do this work on my own?
Answer: Sure you can do it on your own.
Provided ...
- .... you have sufficient objectivity and insight into your own nature
that you never second-guess
yourself.
- .....you have no need for accountability
- .... you never procrastinate, never get overwhelmed
and never shrink from taking
action for fear of making a
wrong move.
- .... you are fully aware of all the ways in which you hold yourself back, delude yourself, keep safe and sabotage your own best efforts.
- .... you are absolutely clear on what you want.
- .... there is no dream or passion you want to manifest and if
there is provided you are absolutely clear on how to do what you want to do.
The Final Word
When you really needed to get into shape you hired a trainer or latched onto a weight loss program. Why? Everyone knows that to achieve these goals you eat less and move around more.
When you felt unwell you probably
went to your doctor or maybe sought out alternative healers
or did extensive research on the internet.
You went looking for authoritative
help.
Youve hired guides, experts and support people before for important decisions.
Retirement is big. Its also confusing and fraught with emotion. The decisions you must make going into retirement will set the tone of your life for a long time to come and will reverberate throughout the years. You owe it to yourself and your family to do the best job possible.
I hope to hear from you. Good
luck in your Retirement.
