I offer, and strongly recommend, the Retirement Success Profile Assessment (RSP) as a basis for Retirement Planning.
Here’s why.
Any kind of Coaching or Life Planning works best when both Coach and
Client have access to shared information about strength areas and possible obstacles.
For example, in non-Retirement coaching I have my clients send me a worksheet before every session giving me updates on their life,
identifying problems, making me aware of challenges or
concerns and recapping the weeks events.
This is cost-effective and time-efficient because we then get into the heart of the session immediately without having to spend time on expository questions such as:
"What happened...
what do you want to do next.... did you accomplish what we talked about last week.., etc."
Mature Life Planning for Retirement is a huge, ongoing project which encompasses our whole life arena of relationships.
Work, leisure, and spirituality. It touches on every emotion.
triggers our most basic fears, and challenges or confirms all our belief systems.
I researched and even tried many assessments, tests and online tools before deciding to use the RSP exclusively.
The RSP provides an enormous amount of information literally in minutes which might otherwise take weeks or months to uncover. Some people experience immediate insight and develop plans for action just from viewing the results.
What It Is and What It Does
The Retirement Success Profile Assessment was developed over a period of several years by Dr. Richard P. Johnson, PhD .
Dr. Johnson is an internationally acclaimed spokesperson in the field of adult development and retirement. He is also former president of the American Association for Adult Development and Aging.
This cunningly constructed 120 question assessment reveals your strengths and weaknesses
and illuminates areas of adequate or inadequate preparation in your pre-retirement. But it does
much more. It also compares your current state of readiness for retirement with your expectations of retirement.
It is a truism that Coaching takes place in a gap. The gap between where you are and where you want to be or who you are and who you want to be. Or what you do now and what you want to be doing.
The RSP gives a perfect snapshot of this gap and the ground to be covered. Indeed, when accurately and carefully interpreted, it provides a road map for the journey
through Retirement.
But it does still more. The RSP not only compares you (where you are now) to yourself
(where you hope to be) it compares your attitudes about retirement, readiness, strengths or weaknesses to thousands of others who have taken the same assessment.
How it Works
At the end of this page you will see a link to the RSP page. When you click on that link you will be directed to a form which will ask for your e-mail address, name and address and phone number. This information is confidential and is gathered solely to facilitate the administration of the RSP and deliver the results.
You will not be required to
provide credit card information
at this time. Within 24 hours you will receive e-mailed information as to how to take the RSP online.
At this point, you should know
which program you would like to
sign up for and whether you
would prefer to pay by credit
card or by check. If you do not have
confidential access to a computer you can take
the RSP by mail.
As soon as you’ve taken the RSP you will be able to download and print the 23 page result of the assessment. I will review the results.
Within about a week you will also receive a wonderful little book in the mail entitled "The New Retirement – Discovering your Dream".
This is your Mature
Career/Life Planning Guide which
you can refer to over and over
again in the years to come.
Once I have had an opportunity to review your results we will set a time to go over them. This initial interpretation is included in the cost of taking the RSP.
Depending on the results, I may also send further assessments and exercises for you to complete on focus areas. This will help you to uncover more information about yourself and your attitudes towards retirement and will allow you to be more focused during our time together.
